(try reading these like Jeff Foxworthy would say them in redneck emphasis for more fun)
If you just learned your new bookkeeper really doesn’t know what debits and credits are and has been posting everything backwards for 6 months…
You just may have stress in the office.
If you were handed a shoebox full of receipts and a pocket checkbook and the pastor says welcome as the new Business Manager…
You just might have stress in the office.
If your CPA tells you that your church books are so messed up that he can’t even do an audit…
You just might have stress in the office.
If you discover that your back-up system hasn’t really backed up in a few weeks and you’re in the middle of a Shelby GLITCH…
You just might have stress in the office.
If your office doesn’t have a phone system and the receptionist has to yell to the staff from her office to yours when you get a phone call…
You just might have stress in the office.
I am sorry to say that all of the above are actual happenings to me since I have been in the ministry full time. Church work can get so crazy at times that you just have to be able to laugh and know God has a sense of humor. I grew up working retail sales for 23 years and believe me there were times when laughter had not entered my mind in dealing with people. Since in the ministry though, laughter is a must and can be soothing to a stressful situation. There are ways to deal with stress that can get you through a difficult day. Here are 5 stress reducers that work for me!
#1 Identify the source - once you identify where stress is coming from you can work on removing it and making the necessary changes in your life.
#2 Choose to avoid stress – my wife has always said that we have a choice every day when we wake up. We can be happy or grumpy. We make the day what it is by our choices.
# 3 Seek counseling- place people around you that lift you up and encourage you and will give solid Biblical counseling along the way. Talk to your peers and get their take on the situation.
#4 Develop a WOW attitude- attitude is everything in business! Check yours daily and keep it positive.
#5 Chill out- have some fun regularly and lighten up some. Check out my 6 part series on Team Building for some ways to lighten up and chill.
