Here’s one sure to give you a laugh about church and ministry life!
My first church was a small church of about 60 members. However, it was situated in a booming area full of new growth. Our small church was growing and expanding very rapidly. At the time, our church staff consisted of a Pastor, Music Minister, Education Minister, and me the Preschool/Children/Business Manager Minister. ( I had never heard of that combination ever)
Anyway, we were having lots of new young couples attend and join our church. Soon those couples were all getting pregnant and having babies and filling up our little nursery. After a burst of new- born’s we had to expand the nursery! The Education Minister and myself had to purchase more baby beds and add a new room of just babies for Sunday mornings.
One Wednesday evening at weekly prayer meeting the pastor was informing the church people of all the fast growth and how well the church was doing in attendance. In trying to make a statement about the new babies and the young couples pregnant now, he looked over at me on the other side of the room and loudly asked,
“Rick, how many women have we got pregnant now?”
I quickly responded, ” I don’t know about you pastor, but I didn’t get any of them pregnant!”
