Have you ever worked in an office where it was all work and never any play? Who wants to work there! Church offices are no different and should be even better than ever! You as the Business Administrator have the opportunity to lighten things up and create a positive office setting. I started this a few years back and it was a huge success and a lot of fun! I researched team building books and Internet articles and games and developed my own track that fit my office the best.
After a few months of this non-sense i was seeing a noticeable difference in several areas. Work performance actually increased, relationships were being re-newed and strengthened, and laughter was more prevalent as the fun continued. One event i did was taking the entire staff to play laser tag. We told the pastor, who had never played, to wear a white shirt. Little did he know that laser tag was in a large building with black lights everywhere. He stood out like a sore thumb! LOL!
Over the next 7 weeks i am going to give you some fun team buildingĀ ideas for your staff to try! If you don’t mind send me feedback on how you do with them. I’ll post every Monday to get you motivated and excited about trying new things for the week.
Week Number One
PIZZA MIA MONDAY – you can announce in advance or just come with the idea that morning and spring it on your staff. I order pizza and drinks and have it delivered to the church office for lunch that day! We spread it all out in the break room and whoever can come by gets a free lunch. It is always fun to get everyone together and just eat and visit. I see relationships being built, people cutting up, and joking. It’s a great time to let your guard down and just have fun. If you can get the pastor in on itĀ that makes it even more fun and special.
What is really fun and cool is when church members stop by the church that day and see all the staff together having fun and getting along so well! Invite them in too and see what happens!
